Text Box: REMEMBER THE “FOUNDATIONS”
OF THE GAME—ETIQUETTE

Least we forget, the game is based on etiquette and has nothing to do with the playing ability of the players involved. Two items that have come across my desk recently and I thought it might me a good idea to pass them along.

The first has to do with the positioning of groups on the golf course. Tradition suggests that slower moving groups should allow a faster moving group to “play through” if they are being held up. Singles and twosomes should try to avoid particularly crowded portions of the day.

Secondly, “hole Jumpers” as I call them should refrain from randomly skipping holes or cutting in on others during the course of play. It tends to disrupt the flow of play and often irritates a number of golfers already on the course since they assume the culprit(s) does not have a tee time and are squeezing in or that the Golf Shop is allowing them to do so. PLEASE check with the Golf Shop before starting on any hole other than #1 and play the holes in rotation.

Text Box: ACES ARE BACK AT THE CLUB
Text Box: After a relatively quite time period for hole-in-ones, I am happy to report that they have resurfaced after the rash of ones recorded in June.
Two were made during the annual Williams Alumni Tournament in late July—Peter Cook and George Bello both aced the 5th hole and it was their first hole-in-one.
