CLUBHOUSE REPORT 8/01/07

The month of July offered us an abundance of heat and humidity and the air-conditioners worked over-time to keep us comfortable. Although we received an above average amount of rainfall for the month, we were fortunate that most of the precipitation fell at night. Except for a couple of days without carts, the golf course remained crowded with golfers.
I am also pleased to report the restaurant welcomed many patrons to its facility during the month. We were especially busy during the Alumni/Guest Tournament when we hosted 240 players and families for four days of golf and camaraderie.
….Each year the staff and I look forward to the Williams College Alumni Tournament. We experience a transformation of atmosphere and are challenged by the number of patrons who visit Taconic Golf Club. Except for the cocktail and hors d’oeuvres party on Thursday evening, we serve only from our menu during the weekend (no buffets) and the event strains our limited facility. We call upon our small staff to work many long hours at a very hectic pace and we received many complements on a job well done. Many thanks to Mike Rosier and the kitchen staff as well as Jill Marie and the service staff for their efforts.
Taconic would not receive the many accolades from the participants if it wasn’t for the expert, organized tournament orchestrated by Rick Pohle and his staff and for the pristine course conditions provided by Kent Lemme and his crew. Thanks again to everyone.

The month of July events included:

July 4- Red-White & Blue Tournament and cook-out
July 8- Mixed Member Guest Tournament and dinner
July 17-Women’s Member/Guest Tournament
July 26, 27, 28, 29- WilliamsCollege Alumni Guest Tournament

Please note that the restaurant facility will be closed for lunch to all non-participants during the Woman’s Invitational Tournament.  We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Congratulations to Taconic Golf Club’s junior member Thomas Sennett for his fantastic performance at the Massachusetts Junior Amateur held at the Crumpin- Fox Golf club July 30-August 1.  Thomas finished tied for sixth place overall with rounds of: 78, 75, & 72.

Don't forget to sign up EARLY for the Member's Dinner to be held on August 17. This month's menu will highlight a pasta buffet theme. Stop in at the lounge for more details or sign up on line with me Greg Canales

On July 17, the women held their summer member/guest tournament which was was well attended and enjoyed by all. This year, the event was a “Pirate” theme and a few photos of the participants can be found here.

I will post results and photos of all Champions for the 2007 season after we determine the results of the Senior Club Championship scheduled for August 4-5.

A reminder!  All restaurant sales include an eighteen percent gratuity for the wait staff. If you wish to alter this amount, cross out the printed gratuity and write the desired amount on the gratuity line.

All members receive discounted prices from our menu.

It is a health code requirement that shoes be worn throughout the dining area of the clubhouse including the patio areas.

Remember, the Taconic restaurant is a public facility and we also welcome lunch business from outside the membership community.
