The Course

Severe Weather Policy
Our club has a storm and lightning detection system which is monitored during the hours of operation of the Golf Shop. In advance of severe weather, we manually activate sirens which are located on the snack shed of the 10th tee and the maintenance building by the 16th green which is a signal for players to seek shelter/clear the course. The college has a similar detection devise located on Weston Field (the college football field adjacent to the golf course) that measures when conditions may be conducive to lightning forming and their system is automated. It may sound prior to our system because it measures conditions, while ours measures actual lightning strikes. Their siren sounds like a car horn and is quite different from our sound – players can use their discretion in responding to this warning system. PLEASE NOTE: after 7:00 pm daily (closing time for the Golf Shop), players should respond to the college’s Weston Field system since there will be nobody in the Golf Shop to monitor weather conditions.
